Local children in Exeter get stuck into green social action work as part of the launch of new local water saving pilot

Greenredeem and South West Water hosted a water saving workshop with pupils at Stoke Hill Junior School in Exeter on the 4^th July, to celebrate the launch of the water saving pilot in the Stoke Hill area of Exeter. At least 40 pupils, all members of the school’s ‘Green Team’, attended the event. The workshop came as the Greenredeem water saving pilot goes live in the Stoke Hill area with local residents, schools, community groups and businesses all now able to benefit from saving water.

Greenredeem rewards people for everyday green actions. Through working in partnership with Stoke Hill Junior School, Greenredeem has made the school a donations partner of the scheme, and through local residents saving water, they can then donate their points to help the school fund outdoor play equipment for the pupils.

The water saving workshop was delivered by the South West Water education team, followed by a group photo call in the playground of the school. The pupils  were given goodie bags at the workshop which they could take home with them to educate their families about saving water and help them to get new playground equipment.

A group of 3,200 South West Water customers in the Stoke Hill area will be invited to join Greenredeem and be rewarded for using less water at home. Householders will be given points for reducing the amount of water they use at home as part of a community effort, which can be redeemed against personal rewards. These can then given as a donation to Stoke Hill Junior School or used in Greenredeem’s monthly prize draw. To find out more, visit www.greenredeem.co.uk/swwater
