The Good For Nothing Community in Exeter

The Good For Nothing Community in Exeter is a group people passionate about helping accelerate projects and initiatives that deliver social good. They do that for nothing - gifting their ideas, skills and energy to create change. Previous examples of how they helped include making a simple new website, writing a new tagline and crowdsourcing the logo, creating new business plan and a way to get funding - and lots of others!

On 5th October, they are hosting an initial pitch night for 10 projects in a high-energy and friendly environment. In addition to each project receiving feedback, ideas and connections, 3 projects will be shortlisted for publicising and voting in Boston Tea Party cafe and online. The top voted project will then receive help during a dedicated evening, with their community coming together to accelerate the key areas that need support.

If you think you have a project or initiative that could benefit from our help (for nothing!), we'd love to hear from you. Get in touch via email and let us know a bit more, or use the form in the link below (http://www.goodfornothing.com/gigs/exeter-pitch-night) which also has more information about us and the pitch night.

Make Your Mark ballot

Devon has recently launched a new partnership model, combining the previous work of the Devon Safeguarding Children Board and the Children and Families Alliance into the Devon Children and Families Partnership.  A key part of the partnership will be a newly formed ‘Expert by Experience Group’.  The key purpose of this group is to provide a vehicle by which children, young people and families can share their views and lived experiences to decision makers and influence the work of the partnership.

The Experts by Experience forum have talked about how to utilise the Make your Mark Ballot to identify some of the issues facing young peopleand now it's time to get some feedback that will inform all of our practice. Please make all your young people aware of the Make Your Mark Ballot for Devon - it will undoubtedly throw up some interesting infomration that will be relvant to us all.

All the resources can be downloaded from the UK Youth Parliament website http://www.ukyouthparliament.org.uk/makeyourmark/local-authority/
